Robert Carter is an artist and writer from Lancashire living in Oslo. He graduated from the Bergen Art Academy in 2020 with his first short film, Notes on Dad. Since then his work has continued to move into the realm of documentary, combining video and photography with an essayistic writing practice.
Prior to living in Norway he co-directed the Exhibition Centre for the Life & Use of Books, an artist-led reading room in Manchester that blurred the lines between art, literature and esoteric history. From 2016-2018 he was an Associate Artist of the Liverpool Biennial, a two year mentorship program for artists with a connection to the North of England.
Robert works as a freelance copy-editor, writes texts for other artists’ exhibitions and has assisted galleries including Fotogalleriet and Henie Onstad in the production of publications.
